Free Talks on Awareness
May 5 & 7, 2025
JOIN DR THEODORE DIMON FOR A FREE SERIES OF TALKS ON THE TOPIC OF HIS UPCOMING BOOK: AWARENESS
Contemporary developmental psychology recognizes that the human mind matures in stages throughout the lifetime, and that this maturation is correlated with the growth and development of the nervous system. The modern study of awareness and attention, situated within the context of developmental psychology, describes the human capacity for attention, culminating in the fully-mature adult's ability to selectively attend at will.
However, it is not broadly recognized by contemporary psychology that the human being is capable of achieving higher, more refined stages of attention and awareness, far beyond what is presently considered fully mature.
Conversely, there are many spiritual traditions that recognize our capacity for higher stages of awareness and attention, but in practice these traditions often focus exclusively on developing these higher stages, leaving out an understanding of child development and typical adult mental development. These traditions recognize the existence and importance of our higher nature, but often overly privilege it to the denigration of the body and our "lower" nature.
Dr. Dimon argues that a comprehensive human psychology must include not only what is recognized by contemporary psychology to be typical mental development, but also the capacity for higher stages of mental development. It must also incorporate our higher nature without denigrating or ignoring our lower, biological origins.
In these talks, Dimon will address these crucial topics while he lays out a map of human development across the lifespan. We invite you to join us!
